Last week, we at Pitch had the pleasure of being a part of UFC Fight Night 30 – as Manchester welcomed Mixed Martial Arts to the Phones 4 U Arena.
While there was already a huge excitement for Fight Night 30 – the lead up to Saturday’s fight Night whetted everyone’s appetite. From Q & A’s with guest UFC Fighters – that included the likes of Conor McGregor and Alexander Gustafsson, to roaming the streets of Manchester ticket hunting with Michael Bisping and Dustin Poirier.
The build up to Fight Night was not in vain; as thousands of fans filled the Phones 4 U Arena. Amongst the spectators, some famous faces could be spotted Octagon side, such as Gemma Atkinson, Daniel Sturridge, Patrice Evra and Manu Tuilagi all in attendance for Fight Night. The highlight of the night was of course the Main event between Lyoto Machida and Mark Munoz – friends now foes, ended with a vicious high kick to Munoz’s head to secure the win for Machida.
Behind all the goings-on we at Pitch were able to maintain and support the UFC franchise by adding our experienced services in a number of key areas. Working and liaising with press and media, managing fighter interviews, supporting on Fight Week events such as open workouts and the public weigh-in, escorting VIP guests during Fight Night and managing the mixed zones and press conference on the night.
As a whole we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Manchester, with the UFC – meeting all the fighters who, despite their tough demeanour, were a pleasure to work with and very professional. We look forward to its return next March in London!
