Red Bull Air Race World Championship comes back to the UK

Team Pitch are busy working on the world’s fastest motorsport series – the Red Bull Air Race – as it returns to the skies after a three-year break. A wide range of tickets are available for the 2014 schedule, including a race in the UK at the iconic Ascot Racecourse on August 16/17 – www.redbullairrace.com.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features the world’s best pilots, including Britain’s reigning two times World Champion Paul Bonhomme, in a pure motorsport competition that combines speed, precision and skill. Bonhomme, who has won the last two World Championships consecutively in 2009 and 2010, will be looking for an unprecedented third straight title in 2014. Paul said, “We’re excited in Team 55 to be given the green light again to race…and what a venue for the UK race. For 300 years there has been racing at Ascot…what a stunning stunning place to race aeroplanes. I am almost speechless that we’ll get to fly around the course that Queen Anne started in 1711…yes, 1711, the year 1711! The history of Ascot will probably never be beaten in the history of the air race. Awesome…no pressure!”

The competition is expected to be even more intense in 2014 as all 12 pilots will be using a standardised engine and propeller, intensifying the focus on pilot skill and precision flying through the high g-force turns in the challenging race courses.

Check out our latest video from journalist Matt Rudd from the Sunday Times who flew out to Salzburg to experience what it’s like to fly in the racer planes. Not for the faint hearted as his article in this weekend’s Sunday Times magazine testifies: http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/Magazine/article1376946.ece
