Five Chelsea men turned their hands to basketball at Cobham on Tuesday, as part of the NBA’s #HalfCourt initiative.
Petr Cech, David Luiz, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle and Demba Ba, all huge fans of the sport, took turns at the challenge, testing their accuracy from the equivalent of half a basketball court.
Results were mixed, but there was plenty of success for the lads, with Cech, Ba and Schurrle all finding the net from the 47ft marker for three points.
‘Everyone knows I am a huge basketball fan, and we sometimes have a game at the beginning of training where the players like to show their skills,’ David Luiz said afterwards.
‘Taking a shot from this distance shows some of the quality you need to be a top NBA player. We all need to work hard to make the draft for next season!’
The day was the latest joint initiative with the NBA, which also saw Ba and Schurrle host the Atlanta Hawks at Stamford Bridge in January, as well as welcoming 15-time All-Star player and Chelsea fan Kevin Garnett to their west London home.
