BT Sport kicks off new season in style

Thursday saw BT Sport host a Premier League promotional day, with ambassadors, pundits and presenters all gathering at BT Centre to look ahead to the new season with the attending media and BT staff.

BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey was joined by Robbie Savage and Darren Fletcher – co-hosts of BT Sport’s new Saturday morning show – ‘Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav’ – Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand, Steve McManaman and BT’s newest recruit, Paul Scholes. The talent were in high spirits during a team photo shoot and even took time to pose for a selfie with BT staff. (use this picture with the post)

Following a staff Q&A event the talent sat down with members of the national media to chew the fat on the upcoming season. The obvious question from the media was “Who is going to win the Premier League?” and it led to a variety of different answers. Discussion soon moved to the fight for top 4 places and how the pressure was on for the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United. The most interesting quote came from Paul Scholes who suggested that his former side, Manchester United, would not be strong enough to break back into the top four this season.

After half an hour with the national media, in which they banked stories for the following two days papers, there were a selection of one-to-one interviews with a range of sport and lifestyle titles. The biggest revelation being that Michael Owen’s favourite sandwich filling in turkey. Brie and cranberry!

After an hour of one-to-ones, the BT Sport football talent departed and the Pitch and BT Sport team all commented on how exciting and successful the event was… If the Barclays Premier League season is half as exciting, we are in for some season!
