BT Sport becomes Official Partner of Manchester City Football Club

BT Sport has scored a three-year deal to become an Official Partner of Manchester City Football Club.

BT Sport, which features Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart in its advertisements, will give its viewers access to exclusive behind the scenes content and interviews. BT Sport will team up with the Manchester City TV team regularly on match days from the renamed BT City Square. The new BT City Square is a new fanzone outside the north end of the Etihad stadium created especially to give fans an even better match day experience before and after home games.

The partnership will bring fans of the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League Champions even closer to the action with weekly interviews from key members of the playing staff.

Simon Green, Head of BT Sport, said: “We’re thrilled to be an Official Partner of Manchester City. At BT Sport, we look to reflect the passion of sports fans and to create unique, engaging content and this partnership helps to give us the inside track”.

Commenting on the partnership, Chief Commercial & Operating Officer for Manchester City Football Club, Tom Glick, said: “BT Sport will be a fantastic addition to the Premier League family next season, adding a new dimension to what is widely regarded as the most popular and globally watched league in the world.  Having invested heavily in both on-screen talent and high quality programming, the new channel is set to not only be a big hit with BT customers, but football fans as a whole.

“We are delighted to work together with BT Sport and look forward to close collaboration to drive innovative content that can be shared across each of our media platforms.  As part of the partnership, our purpose built outdoor fan entertainment area, BT City Square, will also be enhanced, making it an even better venue for fans and families to gather before and after each home game.”

BT Sport will show 38 exclusively live football matches from the Barclays Premier League, including 18 of the ‘top picks’, for each of the next three seasons. Manchester City’s home games against Hull City and Everton are scheduled to be screened by BT Sport before the end of October, with more games to come later in the season. The channels will also show live FA Cup with Budweiser matches for the next five seasons.

There will also be live football action from Scotland, the UEFA Europa League and top tier football from Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, Australia and the USA. In addition there will be action from the FA Women’s Super League and 30 live matches from the Skrill Football Conference.
