Inspirational British Paralympic Sprinter Signs Sponsorship Deal With Asics

The 25 year old Paralympic Silver medalist and IPC World Gold medalist is one of Great Britain and Scotland’s most successful track and field athletes in recent years, and both parties hope the relationship will lead to further success on the track.

Libby is registered blind and competes in the T12 100m and 200m race with the aid of guide runner, whom ASICS will also supply with footwear and apparel as part of the deal.

Clegg was one of the great success stories at London 2012, picking up two Silver medals and narrowly missing out on Gold. She has continued her exceptional form since then, picking up Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and is hoping for a strong 2016.

Commenting on the partnership, Libby Clegg said, “I am extremely excited to sign with ASICS as I strive to reach my goals in what is a huge year in 2016. I’ve been really pleased with my training over the winter and fingers crossed there will be big things to come in Rio later this summer. To have the support and knowledge of ASICS behind me is a great feeling and something I am very grateful for”.

ASICS is at the forefront of research into sports products, developing the latest innovative footwear and apparel for Clegg on the track, whilst she will also be seen in the ASICS training range and lifestyle ASICS Tiger collection off the track.

Cathy McGinnis, Marketing Manager of ASICS UK & Ireland Limited, commented:

“Libby is one of Great Britain’s most successful track and field athletes and a true inspiration. Everyone at ASICS is delighted to be supporting her with the latest technical footwear and apparel over the coming years. We wish her the very best of luck going into a huge year for Paralympic sport, and look forward to successful times ahead.”
