ASICS Europe has announced accelerated growth across EMEA, delivering an overall 12% increase in net sales between January and September 2014.The increase was largely driven by strong growth across apparel and
footwear in the brand’s running and tennis categories.

The cumulative result over the first three quarters of 2014 show significant growth in the brand’s key strategic categories, running apparel and running footwear, with both categories achieving double-digit growth. Running footwear is up by 13%, and running apparel is up by 31%, with particularly strong growth in the women’s segment.

The strong growth results were generated across all major European sales subsidiaries. ASICS Germany, Austria, Denmark posted a solid single digit growth, while ASICS France, Spain, Italy, UK, Sweden, Norway and Poland delivered impressive double digit growth figures. From a retail perspective, sales in ASICS own retail outlets increased by 39%.

Alistair Cameron, CEO of ASICS Europe B.V. commented: “We’re extremely pleased with the strong performance coming from our European markets, and in particular the accelerated increase in apparel. From a marketing perspective, Q3 of 2014 has also been very pleasing with further success of the ‘ASICS Outrun the Sun’ trail challenge, with the TV-documentary currently showing in 19 countries across the world. Not only putting a spotlight on the sport of trail running and the magnificent trail runners, but also boosting demand for our trail collection. Furthermore, we’ve recently opened a new, state-of-the-art flagship store in Hamburg, equipped with the latest shoe selection devices and biomechanical analysis systems, in order to service our customers in the best possible way.
Looking ahead to 2015, we expect to continue the positive trend, and have a number of new campaigns ahead. These include a new global advertising campaign – that will inspire people to run, as well as the launch of a rugby campaign focused on ASICS’ sponsorship of the South African and Australian rugby union teams in the lead up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.”
