Team England’s star badminton players swapped their training kits for couture.
Team England’s star badminton players swapped their training kits for couture in a stylish photoshoot commissioned by BADMINTON England.
Sports and fashion photographer Steve Read worked with a team of top stylists to create a portfolio of stunning images of Britain’s Olympic badminton players. The images, released this week will celebrate the forthcoming Yonex All England Open Championships taking place at the Birmingham NIA from 9th-14th March.
The shoot was styled to show the glamorous side of England’s national badminton team and the new photos, taken at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes, feature Olympic medallist Nathan Robertson alongside reigning European Mixed Doubles Champion Anthony Clark as well as young hopefuls Jenny Wallwork, Gabby White, Chris Adcock, Heather Olver, Rajiv Ouseph and Andrew Smith.
Olympic silver medallist, Nathan Robertson said: “We all had a lot of fun doing this photoshoot, everyone really got into getting dressed up and having their hair and make up done. It’s good to see my team mates out of sportswear and looking chic and stylish. These pictures show that we can bring glamour and style into the sport.”
A selection of the player images will be on display at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham during the 100th All England Open Championships. The Championships are the oldest and most prestigious in world badminton and begin with qualifiers on Tuesday 9th March. The players seen in these eye-catching pictures are all expected to participate in the event and will be hoping to impress as much on court, as they have done in front of the camera.
