Artistic World Champs come to London.
From the 13th to the 18th October the World Gymnastic Championships came to The O2 for the very first time. The event had never taken place in London and was a welcome return to the UK after a decade away.
The O2 Arena, the world’s most popular entertainment destination, allowed spectators the perfect chance to see how UK talent is developing ahead of the London Olympics in 2012. World-class gymnasts worked to defend their positions at the London Olympics, and the rising stars that will challenge them made their mark in the world class field.
Daniel Keatings and Beth Tweddle took centre stage and flew the flag for the Brits. Daniel bought home a Silver in the All Round Competition and Beth made up for a disappointing performance on the bars to take Gold on the Floor.
Around 70 countries from across the world will took part including the 2008 Olympic winning nations; China, Japan, USA, Romania, Russia, Poland, France, PRK, Korea, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Close to 300 individual gymnasts competed.
