Leading sport communications agency Pitch to power the Virgin Racing Formula E team

Virgin Racing Formula E Team has appointed the sports and sponsorship communications agency Pitch as it prepares to compete in the inaugural 2014 FIA Formula E Championship.

Pitch will provide all PR and social media support for Virgin Racing as the team gears up for the first race of the championship, which takes place in Beijing in September, and announced its driver line-up of Jaime Alguersuari and Sam Bird last month. Pitch will play a key role in promoting the team, the drivers and producing content for its social media channels.

The UK’s leading independent communications agency in sport and entertainment, Pitch has a wealth of experience delivering high-profile campaigns for brands, sponsors, rights holders, governing bodies and major international sports events.

Virgin Racing Team Principal Alex Tai said: “As we ready ourselves for the beginning of the 2014 Formula E Championship, I’m delighted to welcome Pitch to the Virgin Racing Formula E team. Having the support of a leading communications consultancy is a great addition and reflects our desire to create a winning team in the first season of the Championship.”

Henry Chappell, Chief Executive, Pitch said: “Virgin is a brand renowned for technological innovation and sporting passion so it is hugely exciting to be given the chance to promote the Virgin Racing Formula E team. We look forward to playing our part in a successful first season for Virgin’s return to top-flight motor sport.”

The Virgin Racing Formula E Team is headed by Team Principal Alex Tai and has the backing of Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson. Both have been involved in a number of pioneering technology projects in aviation, space and more recently racing.

The Formula E Championship intends to showcase electric car technology and speed up development and innovation amongst manufacturers. Starting in China, the Championship will take place on street circuits in the heart of 10 of the world’s leading cities – including London, Miami and Beunos Aires – racing around their iconic landmarks.
