Tonight the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat go head-to-head in a battle to become 2013 NBA Champions. Now we may be a little bit biased (http://www.pitch.co.uk/work/nba/) but this is one of the sporting events of the year and worth staying up for.

It has been a thrilling series
Tonight’s game is Game 7 of the best-of-seven series and what a series it has been. A tense game one was won by an improbable late shot from French guard Tony Parker. The Heat came back with a dominating performance in Game 2 which included a big block by LeBron James which will go down in history.
Since then the two teams have gone back and forth before an amazing Game 6. With the Spurs 3-2 up in the series and needing a win to claim the title, they led for much of the game – however, a late comeback by the Heat, including a HUGE three by veteran Ray Allen took the game to overtime where the Heat eked out a crucial win to force Game 7. Every game has been fast-paced, thrilling and incredibly intense and we can expect more of that.
LeBron James is the best player in the world
Miami Heat small forward LeBron James can do it all. He can jump like an Olympic high jumper, he can run like an Olympic sprinter, he’s as strong as an Olympic weightlifter (ok an exaggeration on this point but he’s very strong) and he can ball like an Olympic baller – as evidenced by Olympic golds in 2008 and 2012. He’s the best player in the world and a joy to watch when he’s on his game. If the Heat win tonight, it will be his (and the team’s) second consecutive title in a row, this would take him one-step closer to securing a legacy that could eventually end up with him being regarded as the second best player of all-time – after NBA great Michael Jordan.
The stars will be watching
David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Flo Rida and Thierry Henry have all been at big Heat or Spurs games during this year’s NBA Playoffs. Indeed Thierry, a big hoops fan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIRFR4Cibak), will be getting behind his good friend Tony Parker and the San Antonio Spurs.
While Didier Drogba was in Miami for last year’s NBA Finals and is expected to be at tonight’s Game 7.
